Tubing
and rafting
and
Canoeing
and tracking and cave visit and just
relaxing and having fun in the sun.
Tubing
One of the most popular pastimes in
Vang Vieng is to hire an enormous tyre
inner tube, be driven a couple of
kilometres upstream, and launched into
the water. The river generally flows
at a slow but steady pace, and the
idea is to relax and absorb the
scenery as you float back to Vang
Vieng. This 'sport' can be practised
in a number of places in Laos, but
nowhere is the view as spectacular as
here with karst limestone mountains
lining the route
Caving
The
most-visited cave is Tham Jang, in
the Vang Vieng Resort complex. It has
a long history but now it has been
been tamed. The tickets and gates, the
guides and the footpaths, the electric
lights .
The great cavern was used by
local people 200 years ago as a refuge
from Chinese invaders. Now it is an
attraction for anyone passing through.
Kayaking, rafting and trekking
trips
Plenty of companies in town offer
kayaking trips around Vang Vieng.
Competition is pretty fierce, and
although prices and trips are
currently identical, recent changes
will mean that larger outfits are able
to offer more variety and
independence.
Some tourist just watch TV all day
long, please avoid this type of
activity because its boring, you can
all rent a quad, motorbike or just
bicycle just to go around the city.
You can also teach the monks
English, the Monastery is locate in
the center of the city. Last time we
collect some money in order to buy
books to the kids. Sauna option is
also available in Vangvieng.
